Members of the class of 1993 gather at Bluegrass & BBQ
Many former classmates and friends made their way back to Chapel Hill Sept. 25 and 26 for Law Alumni Weekend, celebrating the classes of '63, '68, '73, '78, '83, '88, '93, '98, '03 and '08. On Friday evening Top of the Hill hosted affinity group receptions for African American alumni and BLSA students; alumni working in public service and public interest and CPILO students; and Chancellors’ Scholars alumni and students. Afterward, the Class Reunion Celebration kicked off the rest of the weekend, with alumni from near and as far away as California reuniting in the Great Room at the Top of the Hill. This space, which was a bank when many were in law school and is now owned and operated by Scott Maitland ’95, was an ideal setting for nostalgia and celebrating.
Saturday’s Bluegrass & BBQ tailgate prior to the UNC vs. Boston College football game was well attended by graduates from all classes as well as many guests and family members. Students led an “ice breaker” game to help them meet and learn more about alumni. Members of the SBA alumni outreach committee are working on additional ideas and activities to bring alumni and students together.
Beginning in 2014, Law Alumni Weekend is moving to the spring. On April 10-12, 2014, Carolina Law and the Law Alumni Association will be celebrating the classes of '64, '69, '74, '79, '84, '89, '94, '99, '04, '09 and the Golden Tar Heels.
